Our philosophy of the breeding and preservation of the whitetail deer encompasses various agricultural aspects including: breeding, wildlife management, ranching, hunting and habitat preservation / restoration. We believe in the preservation of the whitetail deer species not only as brood stock and sport but, to help maintain the species at its finest for future generations. As with any livestock, the purpose remains consistent; a quality end market product.
About Us
Texas Whitetail Breeders began in the heart of its visionaries Sheldon & Zanna Grothaus. Our whitetail deer herd consists of specific selections of excellent South Texas genetics. These were acquired from a select few of the top Texas deer breeders. Texas Whitetail Breeders is licensed by the State of Texas as a Scientific Breeder of Whitetail Deer; #TX1996. Our deer have been closely managed from the beginning.
We began our deer breeding program with a desire to produce a superior animal for breeding stock. This, in order to repopulate controlled, as well as wild deer herds where populations are diminished.
From this strategically managed program we offer: breeder bucks, both bred and open does and stocker bucks.
Currently Sheldon is the Region 1 President of Texas Deer Association. He is also a member of Texas Parks & Wildlife Breeder User Group Committee.
